Justin's Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups

Hello everyone, it has been a while since I last updated! My apologies, I've been very busy with school lately. Those darn midterms, y'know....

Anyway, since I've been a away I've found a lot of new products and I'm going to try and update a bit more often. Today, I'm reviewing Justin's Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups.

(I had the peanut butter cups with a limited edition birthday cake frappuccino. Speaking of which, it's extremely delicious and I wish it wasn't limited edition! Although I've heard that you can ask for a vanilla bean frappuccino with hazelnut syrup and end up with something similar to the birthday cake!)

I did not find this at the grocery store, I found it at Starbucks but I'm reviewing it anyway because I've never had it before! There are 2 peanut butter cups in each package, both the size of about a regular Reese's peanut butter cup, maybe a bit smaller. They are organic, according to the package which is one reason why I was drawn to them. I think they're healthier than Reese's. However, be aware that these are not vegan nor do they claim to be. I know some people can confuse "organic" with vegan but that's not the case here because these have milk in them.

The packaging is very similar to Reese's peanut butter cups. When you open it, there are two cups in a little cardboard tray. The look of it is very simple an clean, which I think is supposed to signify the organic-ness.

They are dark chocolate, meaning the chocolate flavour is more intense but less sweet. I used to really dislike dark chocolate but lately I have been waning it more than milk chocolate! I guess it's part of growing up, LOL.
Excuse the blurriness and my horrible fingernails!
The chocolate is smooth and creamy and just absolutely delicious, and when you bite into it, you are rewarded with a burst of delicious, creamy, salty peanut butter. It's a perfectly balanced little delight.
The peanut butter on the inside has a much more natural flavour than Reese's peanut butter cups. You can tell it's organic! I think these are a little thinner than Reese's though so they didn't have as much peanut butter inside which is a bit of a disappointment because it was really good peanut butter!

Is it worth the buy?

I would say, this is worth the buy. Although it is a little more expensive than Reese's (I can't remember the exact price) it is organic and much better for you. The only thing I didn't like is the small amount of peanut butter in the middle. I wish there was more, For the price i don't think there was enough. But overall, I think this is a great product and it definitely has my approval.

Danette Choco-Coconut Dairy Dessert

During a trip to the grocery store, I stumbled upon a new product: chocolate coconut dairy dessert!

This product comes in packs of 4 100g dessert cups. It comes in a small cup about the same size as a pudding cup. For some reason it seemed like there was more in this cup than a pudding cup. I thought it was never going to end...

You might think this tastes like a Bounty bar, but it does not. The chocolate flavour is more intense and the coconut is more subtle. It also was not as sweet as I would have liked. I didn't think the flavour was that great because it just tastes like chocolate mostly, you can barely taste the coconut. I would rather just have chocolate Jell-O, to be honest!

I don't really like the way it looks in the packaging because of the colour. That blue-green is not at all appealing to me. The dessert itself is very smooth and a rich brown colour. It smells very chocolaty, as you might expect. It looks a lot like pudding but it's less "jell-o"-y, as in, it doesn't really jiggle. It's less thick than pudding, a little sloppier. Think of it as a thick-ish chocolate-coconut soup (ew). I don't really like the texture of it.

I also don't like the fact that this dessert is made with 3% m.f. milk. This adds more calories and fat that I think it could do without. Personally, I would prefer if it was made with skim milk.

Overall, it's not the best product. I would suggest just buying regular pudding instead.

Is it worth the buy?

No, I don't think this is worth the buy. The taste is not that great and not what you would expect. I don't think this dessert can beat regular chocolate pudding!

Voortman Cookies & Creme Wafers

So today at Walmart I finally got something I've been wanting for years! Voortman Cookies 'n Creme Wafers! They are not new or limited edition, but they are new to me because I have never had them before.

I love anything that is cookies 'n creme flavour so I was really excited about these wafers. I can tell you right now that they did not disappoint at all.

When I opened the package, the wafers were all stuffed together and looked like a big cake. I love how they are put together and I love that the only thing separating these babies from my hand was the wrapper. No tray, no foil, nothing! Just easy-to-tear packaging. I do wish it was somehow resealable!

The cookies taste very good. They are similar to Oreo but much more delicate and they sort of melt in your mouth. The are very sweet and crunchy. My favourite part is the creme, It is a little bit tangy and it just tastes so good! I just had mine plain but I would recommend having these with a glass of milk. I'm not sure if you can dip them because they are quite, as I said, delicate so they might fall apart.

Although I do love Oreos, I think I like these more. The cookies 'n creme flavour is more intense. They also cost less than a package of Oreo cookies, which is nice if you are on a budget but still want something yummy!

I'm really glad I finally bought these because they are just scrumptious. Would highly recommend!! Just be aware, you might get addicted.

Trident Jelly Bean Layers Limited Edition Sugar-free Gum

For spring, Trident has created a new gum flavour. This one is supposed to taste like jelly beans. I found it at Shoppers Drug Mart and, as I am a sucker for anything labelled "Limited Edition", I bought it!
The package (front)
The package (back)

I think the packaging is very cute, I love the pastel colours and the jelly beans on it. There are 14 pieces in a pack. For an avid gum chewer like me, that's not much! But it's a pretty good amount, in my opinion. Something I didn't like about this was that there is no nutritional information on it.

When I opened the pack, I was overwhelmed with the sweet scent. It smells like green apples and candy. I really liked it.

I found the taste to be very appealing although it did not taste anything like jelly beans. It tasted more like the pineapple & apple flavoured Trident Layers gum. You can especially taste the green apple. It's very sweet and fruity and a little bit sour. When you put it in your mouth, your taste buds just explode with the tangy flavour. However, it also has a bit of a bitter undertone, you can really taste the artificial sweetners. But hey, it's gum, right?

Here is the gum out of the package and wrapper. I love the colour of the gum, it's perfect for spring and just so adorable! The size is approx. 1.5cm in length and 0.3cm in width, just a regular piece of Trident gum. The consistency is, as you would expect, soft and chewy. This is very nice if you don't want dessert, it makes for a great substitute.

Is it worth the buy?

Overall, I would say this is not really worth the buy. It's great, but it's nothing special. The flavour may be "limited edition" but it's not different or unique in any way. As I said, it tastes very similar to the pineapple & apple flavour.  It's not bad at all though.

Welcome to my blog!

Hello readers, and welcome to Grocery Food Reviews! My name is Sabin and I live in Canada. I love food and I love writing!

I love going to the grocery store because you never know what you're going to find. There's the usual stuff, yes, but there's also sometimes new or limited edition items that you don't often find. I love finding new foods, so I created this blog to record and review what I find.

To review, I will be marking each product based on look, taste, smell, and value. I will rate them on a scale of 5 heart, 1 being horrible and 5 being excellent! I will try to be as thorough as I can with my reviews and I will also try to provide nutritional information, place of purchase, and cost whenever possible.

Thanks for visiting, I hope you enjoy reading my reviews!☺
